Collaboration with the Green Climate Fund

The GCF Readiness Programme collaborates directly with the Green Climate Fund to ensure coordinated readiness support to developing countries. Activities undertaken to prepare countries for the GCF are closely coordinated with the Fund itself, in line with its policies and its readiness and preparatory support activities.

Cooperating Partners

The German Government is committed to the objectives of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and offers assistance to developing countries to access and manage GCF funding.  As such, readiness support funded by the German Government is delivered through two parallel components:

  • The German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) has entrusted the implementation of its parts of the programme to UNEP, UNDP and WRI;
  • The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has entrusted its parts of the programme to the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and KfW Entwicklungsbank.

The programmes work in different countries but share the same goals and cooperate very closely.
