Climate finance MRV system training took place in Ghana in March

Date: 3 March 2017

Ghana’s Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) has developed a national climate finance monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) system that enables the ministry to collect accurate and credible data on climate finance support, report on this data, define roles for key actors and verify actual impacts of support received.

To support the rollout of the system, 16 selected staff from relevant government agencies participated in training on how to use the system. The objective of the training was to build the capacity of key personnel within selected MDAs, CSOs and the private sector whose activities are linked to climate change, and to seek feedback from participants on any challenges they saw in using the new monitoring, reporting and verification tool. Participants felt the tool was a very efficient way of accessing information on climate change data and activities in the country.
